Les Green – Another Great of our beloved sport, for many years he has been at the top
of the UK’S pigeon scene. I first met Les many years ago on a moot and my first impressions
back then were one of respect, we have been friends ever since. He was then with the Curtis
Wall Lunt & Green partnership, to say they won everything in front of them would be an
understatement. He then left and raced on his to his own back garden, the results haven’t
stopped, win after win, race after race the name Les Green can be seen at the top of the list. I
keep repeating this statement but to put down the many wins this loft has won, they would fill
the BHW. In Les’s own words the following –

Over the last 3 seasons my loft has won 31 x 1st Federation, 25 x 1st Amalgamations and 8 x
1st Open Combines plus many club firsts. In 2024 my good cock “Super Daniel 009” won 1st
NW Region Sprint “ACE”, 1st NW Region Bird Of The Year all categories, 2nd National Sprint
Champion RPRA. 1st Pinnacle Games Sprint Champion all British Isles, 1st National “ACE”
Sprint Champion all UK Titan Games. I fly with two Feds and two Amals both situated in the
Manchester area, one is Altrincham & Dist Fed, the other the Atherton Fed, which is more on
the west side of the country. Altrincham are affiliated with the North West Amal, Atherton the
West Pennine Amal, both members of the strong and competitive Central Lancashire
Combine. I am on the west side of Altrincham Fed, the eastern side of the West Pennine
Amal, my lofts are situated to the west of centre of the Combine, not ideal but I love the
challenge, especially in west winds. I have been lucky enough to win both feds on the same
day on many occasions.

The winner of the Pinnacle Games is a great cock that is from 2021, he has been a consistent
pigeon all his racing life. I will now retire him to the breeding loft as he has nothing to prove,
there are many obstacles out there now especially with the number of peregrine falcons that
attack the birds so often these days, I would be gutted if anything took him.
