Rod Sparkes – When I asked Rod, he said he had all his stock on pot eggs, he would
though let a pair go down but they would be late, from a fancier of Rods calibre it could have
been bred in November, no problems there. He then got back in touch asking me to ring him,
which I did, the news he had for me was a great surprise, his best ever pigeon “Packo” had
filled his eggs and one was available for the sale. A fantastic offer as “Packo” had only filled
four eggs throughout the 2025 breeding season, a great contribution and a rare offer from one
of the country’s best fanciers and certainly race birds. “Packo” can be seen on the front cover
of the Pictorial No 573, his prizes would possibly fill it – 9 x 1st including 2 x 1st Federation
from 2,347 birds & 2,180 birds, a grand total of 44 prizes in all, a super pigeon yes, but he has
also gone on and left his mark in the stock loft too, he is sire and grandsire to many top birds.
“Packo” is grandsire to “Winston” 2 x 1st National in Iceland and National ACE pigeon of
Iceland.
The hen paired to “Packo is a daughter of the outstanding Albert Derwa pair “Bright Spark” &
“Miss Spark” she is named “Missy”. Another super star lot for some lucky purchaser.
